Moat & Mortar
Tower defence on four maps, with six towers to build and upgrade and boss waves to hold.
Moat & Mortar is a tower defence game on a grid. Enemies walk a winding road to your castle, and you build towers on the tiles beside it. Four maps run from Easy to Expert.
The goal
Survive every wave of a map. Each enemy that reaches the castle costs lives: most cost 1, an Armoured enemy 2 and the Warlord 5. A won map earns stars by the lives you kept: three stars for 85% or more, two for 45% or more, otherwise one.
How a wave goes
- Between waves you have 14 seconds to build before the next wave starts on its own.
- Call the next wave early for bonus gold: the more of the countdown you skip, the more you get.
- Defeated enemies pay gold, and clearing a wave pays a bonus that grows with each wave.
The towers
| Tower | What it does |
|---|---|
| Archer | Fast arrows at one target; hits flyers; the cheapest |
| Cannon | Lobbed shells that splash a crowd; cannot hit flyers |
| Frost | Pulses icy mist that slows everything nearby |
| Lightning | Bolts that chain between nearby enemies |
| Sniper | Huge range and damage, slow to reload; ignores armour |
| Poison | Toxic globs that keep hurting over time; ignores armour |
Each tower has three levels. A tower can aim at the first enemy on the road, the strongest, or the closest. Selling returns 70% of what it cost.

Enemies
- Grunts and Runners: the Runner is faster and weaker.
- Armoured: slow and tough; armour cuts the damage of most towers, but not the Sniper's or Poison's.
- Swarmlings come in numbers; Healers mend the enemies near them.
- Flyers cross the map in the air: the Cannon cannot hit them.
- The Warlord leads the boss waves, armoured and hard to slow.
