Ripple Lake
Sail a sea chart in a small boat, cast at the schools of fish and fill your logbook with 30 species across three waters.
Ripple Lake is a fishing game on a sea chart. You sail a small boat across three waters, stop beside a school of fish and cast. What you catch goes in the hold until you sell it at the dock, and every new kind goes in your logbook.
The goal
Fill the logbook: 30 fish, 10 in each water, one of them a legend. Each catch is engraved there with its best length and how many you have caught; a fish not yet caught shows as a shadow with the hours it bites.
The waters
| Water | What it is | Its legend |
|---|---|---|
| The Mangroves | Shallow water, keys and channels, to the west | Barramundi, at night, on a spinner |
| Home Lake | Islands and the dock, in the middle | Wels catfish, at night, on live bait |
| The Open Sea | Deep water to the east, the most fish; it needs Hull II | Ocean sunfish, by day, on a squid jig |
How fishing goes
- Stop close to a school, ringed on the chart, and tap Cast. A bite comes in 1 to 3.5 seconds; when the float shows "!", tap Hook within about a second, or the fish gets away. Steering off reels the line in.
- Each fish bites at its own hours. A day lasts 12 minutes: dusk from 18:30, night from 20:30, dawn from 4:30. The schools move between their day and night water.
- A school holds a few fish (4 in the Mangroves, 5 on Home Lake, 8 at sea), loses one with each catch and gets one back every 20 seconds. The other boats fish the same schools.
- A rare fish fights. Hold Cast to reel it in between its runs, and let go when it runs (the float jerks just before). Reel through a run and the strain bar fills and the line snaps; never reel and it swims off with the line.
- Every minute or so a school near you shimmers for 45 seconds: 9 extra fish, bites twice as fast, and bigger fish. The other boats head for it too. When it is off screen, a pointer at the edge shows the way.

Bait
Worm is free. Bread costs 15 coins, a spinner 40, live bait 80 and a squid jig 120, each bought once at the dock. A fish on a bait it takes is three times as likely to bite, and a legend bites only on its own. Change bait with the chip under the hold while the line is in.
The dock
- Stop at the end of the jetty and Cast reads Dock. Selling the hold pays its coins, and a Tac for every 10 coins.
- The hold carries 6 fish; a full hold casts no more. Hold II, III and IV carry 10, 16 and 24 (40, 100 and 210 coins).
- Engine II, III and IV: 45, 120 and 260 coins. Hull II, 90 coins, opens the Open Sea. Fish finder, 30 coins, shows every school in view; Fish finder II, 150, shows the two likeliest fish under each. Lantern, 25 coins: at night it brings bites sooner and the night fish twice as often.
- Tacs buy a fitting or a bait before you have the coins: a Tac for each 10 coins of its price.
Controls
- Phone or tablet: the stick, bottom left, steers; a touch on the open water does nothing. Cast, bottom right, casts and hooks; hold it to reel.
- Mouse: hold the button anywhere and the boat heads for the pointer.
- Keyboard: arrow keys or WASD to steer; Space or Enter to cast and hook, held to reel. L opens the logbook; Esc or P pauses.
- The pause button is top right, and the game stops while the tab is hidden.
Tacs and paints
- Awards pay Tacs once: a first catch 5, a fish from the Open Sea 10, each water's 10 fish 10, the Wels catfish 20, the Barramundi 20, the Ocean sunfish 30, all 30 fish 40.
- Paints are the boat's and change nothing in play. Red oxide is free; Bottle green, Dory buff, White and red and Harbour blue cost 40 Tacs, Varnished clinker 60, and Gold cove line is earned by landing all three legends. Buy and fit them in the Wardrobe.
The logbook, coins, fittings, Tacs and paints are kept on your device.
